It’s that time again! Friends. Last year I participated for the first time in New Zealand’s very own Secret Santa Seed Swap. An awesome initiative for gardeners nation wide organised by Claire and Sarah over on Instragram. How it goes is sort of like a pen pal…

- Click the link in their profile
- Fill out your postal details and growing zone
- Once registrations are closed off you will get an email with your buddy’s details
- Gather up a package of seeds to share
- Pop it in the post
- Wait for your bundle of surprise seeds to arrive!
I participated in the seed swap for the first time last year, and it was such a blast. First of all, bundling up little seed packets to share, trying to pick some interesting options for someone else to try. Writing them a little letter sharing what I had chosen. It was such a joy.
But then also, when my parcel arrived – oh the excitement! It really is like Christmas. I got a whole range of seeds I loved, and a few I’d never tried before which have actually turned out to be a super success (like the habaneros I’ve been inundated with!)
Note! Registrations are now option for this from today until the end of the month (31 July 2022). Once you’ve registered and been allocated a buddy you have until 17 August 2022 to get your seeds in the post so everyone has plenty of time to receive and sprout them before Spring and Summer get into gear!
